How I Can Help

Every research project is unique. You may be looking for a family tree chart or deeper research into your ancestors and their lives. Or perhaps you have a brick wall you are trying to break down. Whatever it is you are curious about, here are some of the ways I can help.

Genealogical charts

Whether this is your first foray into building a family tree or whether you have made a start and need some help, I can research your ancestors' names, dates, places, and key life events and present them in a Family Tree or Pedigree chart. Charts will be supplied in digital format.

Family history research and reports

If you want to get to know your ancestors and the context in which they lived, I can research immigration records, newspapers, wills, land records, and other historical records to bring your ancestor's stories to life.

A fully referenced detailed report will be supplied in digital format (PDF or Word). I can also provide a GEDCOM file if you use a Family Tree software program.

Biographical essays

Most of us have that one person in our family history who was known as a "character". Maybe they had an unusual and distinctive life (like my distant cousin Ethel, a contortionist in the circus!), or perhaps they made a significant contribution to their community. Or they were simply someone who you think was interesting.

I can research the life of one of your ancestors and write a short biographical essay (750-1000 words).

Breaking down brick walls

We all come up against "genealogical brick walls" sooner or later. If you are stuck or have an unsolvable mystery, I can help by thinking outside the traditional research box and sourcing and researching little-known records. This approach has helped me to solve many intractable problems, including  identifying the date that my great-great-grandfather arrived in Australia, and discovering the maiden name of my great-great-grandmother after 30 years of searching!

I can also manage genealogical DNA test results for you as a strategy for breaking down brick walls.
